What is Schefflera Poisoning? This common household plant is highly toxic to felines as well as a large majority of other mammals, causing potentially fatal symptoms. The majority of clinical signs a cat owner may note will present immediately or no later than two hours following ingestion.
What to Do for Your Pet
Keep poisonous plants away from pets. Remove any debris, such as leaves, that could attract them. If your animal appears sick, especially after eating something toxic, contact your veterinarian or an emergency veterinarian. To assist in determining what your pet consumed, take a photo of the plant or bring some of it, along with the vomit, to the veterinarian. In addition, the Animal Poison Control Center at the ASPCA can be reached at 888-426-4435, 24/7.
Hello, please pardon me if I’m missing something. I’m new here. (In addition, I’m still not entirely awake because it’s early in the morning.)
However . Even now, I still really want to have a lovely, big tropical plant in our living room—one that is safe for our cats, of course.

I discovered/remembered that the gorgeous large Schefflera I purchased yesterday is poisonous to cats at 4:30 AM. After checking a few posts on this forum, especially one by Violet_Z6, which was really helpful, I put the plant away immediately before returning it to the store later today. My kitties did approach it as soon as we brought it inside, but I sternly told them not to touch it. Fortunately, neither Kernel nor Spooky appeared to have chewed on it, so everything is well as of right now.
Plants You Cut Outside
Pets may also be poisoned by any number of flowers and plants that you cut from the outside and bring inside. Azalea and hydrangea cuttings are two common culprits. Foxglove, iris, and daffodils can also cause serious problems.
If you choose to keep this plant indoors, exercise extreme caution. It can result in seizures, low body temperature, drooling, vomiting, fast heartbeat, and even unconsciousness or coma.
