Luckily, you don’t have to rely on your nose alone to help you find the source of the odor. Instead, try using a UV light, also known as a black light. If you shine the light in a dark room, cat urine will glow yellow or green, making it easy to see exactly where you need to clean.
How to Use a Blacklight to Find Pet Urine
Blacklights, in our opinion and the opinions of many pet owners, are a great way to locate those difficult urine stains.
But remember that, contrary to popular belief, pee will not appear brilliant white when illuminated by a blacklight. Instead, it will be a bright yellow. Some people find that using a blacklight at night makes it easier to see pee.
Urine can be found in your home at night by using your blacklight to sweep any suspected areas while the lights are off. The ideal distance to hold the blacklight from the carpet or other surface you’re inspecting is between one and three inches. Look for that bright yellow color!.
Once the urine stain has been located, use your preferred stain and odor removal product to treat it. Naturally, Pet Odor and Stain Eliminator or any of our other products are highly recommended. Please read our article, How to Remove Pet Odor, to find out why our products are so effective at eliminating urine stains and odors as well as how the process actually works.
Stains and/or odors are broken down by bacteria in our products (as well as other products based on bacteria). Bacteria naturally produce proteins or are partially composed of proteins.
There has been discussion on the internet regarding the potential dangers of bacterial proteins. As it happens, most proteins are not hazardous, although some, like botulinum toxin, are. ALL enzymes, for instance, are proteins. As previously mentioned, bacteria can leave harmless residues of proteins behind and naturally produce proteins. In fact, bacteria are partially composed of proteins.
Essentially, a protein produced or contained within a bacterium does not automatically mean that it is toxic. Particularly with our products, these types of bacteria that produce protein are entirely eliminated. We have found that the phosphorus atoms in these protein traces cause the proteins to fluoresce when exposed to a blacklight.
This means that under a blacklight, you’ll probably notice a very faint, dull glow following cleaning with our products. These are merely the innocuous proteins that the bacteria left behind. They won’t be bright yellow like the urine. Rather, they will appear as a faint, dull yellow that is probably going to be very hard to see.
Using Unique Pet Care Products With Blacklights
If you use our Unique Pet Care products, items will still appear under a black light even if your floor or surface is clean and odor-free. These are only the proteins found in the bacteria that we use on a regular basis.
In summary, once the stain and odor are eliminated, you don’t need to continue using Pet Odor and Stain Eliminator or any of our other products. Even in clean environments, these proteins are probably still present in products when examined under a blacklight.
In recent years, blacklights have developed into quite the urine and pet defecation finding devices. Pet parents discover that blacklights are frequently the solution they need because they don’t want to spend extra time using their noses to smell things.
However, once you’ve located the urine stain, you still need to remove it. For this reason, Unique Pet Care has developed the strongest products on the market to address these stains and odors at their source.
We hope that this post has given you more knowledge about blacklight operation and how to use it to locate urine stains and smells. If you have any questions, please email support@uniquemm to let us know. com!.
