We like to hide at night
If a cat feels threatened by other pets in the house, it may prefer to go outside and find a secure spot to spend the night. This can occasionally occur when our humans haven’t given us our own resources, haven’t taken the time to introduce us gradually, or if there’s another cat in the house and we just don’t get along.
Naturally, cats require a warm, secure spot inside of them to hide out. You can help your cat feel at ease and content by plugging FELIWAY Optimum into the room where they sleep.
So, what do cats do at night?
Contrary to popular belief, we are not always nocturnal, and while some of my feline friends spend their nights outdoors, we do not go hunting. The majority of our hunting is done at dawn or dusk, when small mammals and birds are more active. However, we are not always successful and only manage to catch roughly 20% of our prey, which is E2%80%93 mice and other small creatures that can move very quickly!
During the day, there’s a lot of noise both inside and outside the house, so we might take a lot of naps during the day and use our energy for exploring at night. Going outside at night is not only safer because there are fewer people and less traffic around, but it also presents more opportunities to explore new territory, leave our mark, and lay claim to it.
